Starting from the 12th generation of Dell servers, Dell made idrac levels a licensing cost rather than a piece of hardware you can install into your system. There are 4 different levels as of currently. BMC (No idrac license), Express, Enterprise and Datacenter.
IDrac Features by level:
Express: iDrac Express offers the first level of iDrac functionality. This includes the majority of iDrac features however doesn’t have any of the virtual console functionality.
Enterprise: iDrac Enterprise is the next level of iDrac license. The primary features that are added to the enterprise level iDrac deal with remote presence. Things like virtual console, virtual console collaboration, quality bandwidth control and remote file shares.
Datacenter: iDrac Datacenter is the newest feature level which started being offered with the iDrac9. Depending on what level system you are using you will have a different idrac editions as standard.
Systems in the 1-5 (ie. T130, R330, R530) range don’t come with any idrac functionality standard and require a license to get any of the features of the idrac.
Systems in the 6-9 range come with express standard and require a license for getting Enterprise or Datacenter features.
