This controller is if you need SAS Raid for these units. It has 2 internal connectors with 4 ports each, is PCI-E and runs at 3GBps. It has a bracket on the card and is not for external connections to items such as external storage or tape back ups.
NOTE: This card also functions in other servers: PowerEdge 1900 and 2900 with no bracket, and PowerEdge 1950, 2950 and R200 in tray. Email us if you need the card in the tray, or with no bracket.
